[[underlined]] Oct. 1 [[/underlined]], 1939, Mansfield

Cleared up in afternoon as we drove from Mansfield to Williamsport and the sun brought out the gloriously colored foliage of maples, red, yellow, pink and spotted, golden hickories, yellow birches willows and ash, scarlet sumacks, dark red ampelopsis, all mixed in with light and dark greens of individual trees and often a background of pines and hemlocks.
