Assign 15 C-47s to LAAF; EM's to Get Flying Time
With the assignment of 15 C-47 planes to this base, hundreds of enlisted personnel on flying status now will be able to get in their flying time while stationed at LAAF. The planes have been assigned to the base for the sole purpose of making it possible for enlisted men to keep up on flying time.

The planes will operate on a seven-days per week schedule until back flying time has been put it. Each plane will make two four-hour flying missions daily, carrying 24 GIs on each flight.

Each man will receive four hours flying time per month, while those who did not get in their flying time for June and July will be given 12 hours during August to make up the full time.

All men will be rostered thru their squadrons. It is planned to handle approximately 400 men daily.

Thirty pilots, well-qualified and each with considerable flying experience, were selected to fly the planes. Low man on the list has a total of 1,500 hours while the majority of pilots has more than 2,000. All have been given a thoro transition course in C-47s and have received, or are receiving, special instruction work.

^[[I made two flights on these planes, 8/25/45 and 8/26/45. Each flight lasted four hours and ten minutes.
