Banquet aat Dayton Country Club Friday To Be Leading Social Function of Meeting; Mrs. Greene to Preside.

SOCIETY will pay its tribute to the first "Women's National Air Meet" in Dayton next week-end, and all activities of prominent circles will center about the aeronautical meeting on Friday and the air race the two succeeding days.

Noted pilots from all over this country will enter the races and these flyers will be entertained in homes of leading families of the city.  Mrs. Margaret Perry Cooper of California and New York, president of the Ninety-Nine, women pilots' organization, and the following are expected to arrive Friday:  Amelia Earhart, Laura Ingalls, Ruth Nichols, Ione Coppedge, Helen Richey, Gladys O'Donnell, Mae Hazlip, Louise Thaden, Betty Lund and Dorothy Hester.

A round of smart affairs is being planned in honor of the hundreds of visitors who will be in the city at this time.  The outstanding social function will be the banquet at the Dayton Country club on Friday evening, sponsored by the aeronautical association, in compliment to the visiting flyers.

All interested persons in the city are invited to attend this affair and Mrs. Edith McClure Patterson is chairman of reservations.  Miss Cora Adamson of Central avenue and the Air Meet Headquarters in the Custer building will also receive reservations.

The annual meeting of the aeronautical society opens Friday morning at 11 o'clock at the Biltmore hotel, and Mrs. George Shaw Greene, national president, will give the main address.  A luncheon will follow and at 2:30 o'clock the business session is scheduled.

Mrs. Greene, as president, has on her executive board, Mrs. Don M. Peabody of Coral Gables, Fla., first vice president;  Mrs. Ulysses Grant McQueen of Beverly Hills, Cal., second vice president;  Marguerite Jacobs Herron of Dayton, secretary, and Mrs. Ralph Messer of Oklahoma City, Okla., treasurer.

Miss Martha Smith heads the Dayton unit of the aeronautical association;  Mrs. Robert C. Austin is first vice president;  Mrs. Edward M. Powers is second vice president;  Mrs. Ployer P. Hill is corresponding secretary;  Mrs. B. B. Talley is recording secretary;  Mrs. J. Edward Grimm is treasurer.

At a meeting of the social activities committees for the air meet which was held Tuesday afternoon at the Vandalia airport, Mrs. Robert Goolrick, Mrs. Robert C. Austin and Mrs. Louise B. Heikes were elected delegates to represent the Woman's Aeronautical association of Dayton at the meeting of the national association.

Mrs. H. E. Talbott has invited the social activities group to hold its next meeting in the garden at "Runnymede" Monday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock.

It is pointed out that few women's meets have been held, and nothing of the kind planned here.  Between 25 and 30 women pilots took part in a race in New York ast year.

Mrs. Walter Bayley is chairman of publicity, assisted by Mrs. T. C. Sheridan, Mrs. D. G. Howard and Mrs. V. E. Strahm.  Chairman of registration of visiting delegates is Mrs. A. E. Jones and on her committee are Mrs. Charles W. Dale, Mrs. Oliver P. Echols and Mrs. David L. Lingle.

Mrs. Edith McClure Patterson in charge of banquet reservations is being assisted by Miss Cora Adamson, Mrs. Burton L. Lewis, Mrs. Samuel R. Harris, Mrs. Bennett E. Meyers, Mrs. J. M. Hollett, Mrs. W. S. Bernard, Mrs. Turner A. Sims and Mrs. Byron J. Connell.

Mrs. Edwin B. Tizzard as transportation chairman has on her committee Mrs. Ralph A. Herbruck, Mrs. C. V. Courter, Mrs. Frederick M. Hopkins, Mrs. A. H. Johnson and Mrs. Frank Irvin.

Mrs. Sidney S. King is in charge of decorations.  Mrs. J. Edward Grimm heads the luncheon committee assisted by Mrs. James S. Ogsbury, Mrs. George Marshall, Mrs. A. R. Crawford and Mrs. V. E. Strahm.  Mrs. Harrison Flickinger is chairman of information and her assistants are Mrs. A. H. Gibson and Mrs. Donald Putt.

On the airport committee are Mrs. H. E. Carley, chairman;  Mrs. Charles Harries Simms, Mrs. L. M. McCutcheon and Mrs. N. T. Pavey.  Mrs. Charles Harries Simms is chairman of the hospitality committee.

Captain A. F. Hagenberger and Martha C. Smith, members of the executive committee, are pictured receiving the first entry from Manila Davis Talley (right) for the $2,000 handicap race of the Women's National Air meet on Aug. 4 and 5 at Dayton Municipal airport, Vandalia.

Mrs. Talley, wife of Lieutenant B. B. Talley, of Wright field, entered on Friday, the 13th, and requested No. 13 for her number in the face.
