HEADQUARTERS
UNITED STATES MILITARY ACADEMY
WEST POINT, NEW YORK

October 6, 1904

Mr. Thomas DeW. Milling
Franklin, La.

Dear Sir:-

In reference to the certificate submitted in your behalf by the Principal of St. Mary’s Central High School the Academic Board has considered the name and I am directed to inform you that if a certificate made out like the one submitted is sent to me as soon after your graduation next spring as possible it will be acceptable as satisfactory by the Board. I enclose a blank form for your use in the preparation of this certificate. You will, therefore, be required to pass the physical examination only, when you report at the time and place specified in your letter of conditional appointment from the War Department.

It is understood, of course, that the acceptance of your certificate by the Academic Board is conditional upon your successful completion of the course at the High School where you are now in attendance. Should you for any reason fail to graduate from this school your certificate could not be accepted and you could not, therefore, enter the Academy as the entrance examination, which begin May 1st, will have been completed.

Very respectfully,
