The first army pilots, Brig. Gen. H. H. Arnold, now assistant chief of the air corps, shown standing in front of the plane, and Col. T. DeWitt Milling, now retired and residing in San Antonio, shown sitting in the "cockpit," were also the first two army flying instructors. The plane was made by the Wright Brothers and was delivered to College Park. The picture was taken a year after the field was established. At the top, right, is the first government field in Texas, established in Texas City in 1913. Notice the canvas hangars. [[caption]] [[/newspaper clipping]]
