Farman Brothers. Factory is the largest in France. Capacity 40 machines per month. They build every part of their machines with the exception of the power plant. All material is bought in the rough and shaped out by special machinery, which is new and complete in detail The material and workmanship is of the best, the finish being especially good. Both the Henry and Maurice Farman types are manufactured. This is made possible due to their slight differences. Both are biplanes, built with either single or double rudders, and with or without the front elevator. However, M. Farman seems to favor the double rudders and front elevator, while H. Farman does not. The seats of both are in tandem, but the distance between those on the H. Farman greater, allowing of more comfortable seating arrangements. Motor is between the planes and turns a single propeller. A nacelle, containing petrol tanks and seats, is in front of the motor and extends well to the front of the planes. A clear view is obtainable to the front and sides. The controls are the same in principle as the Bleriot. The difference being, that H. Farman employs a single lever to operate the elevator and aileron, while M. Farman employs a "T" shape lever. The former can be operated with one hand conveniently while the second cannot.

Borel. Factory is small, having a capacity of 8 machines per month. Both land machines and hydros are manufactured. Workmanship good, construction stronger and heavier than necessary, when useful load carried is considered. Both one place 60 H.P. Gnome, and two place 80 and 100 H.P. Gnome are constructed. The 100 H.P. is usually employed on the two place Hydro. All military types have a neat device for quick disassembling for road transportation. The front spar is attached
