7. The distance from the Babuyan Islands to vital points on Luzon are as follows:
Fuga to Corregidor     - 310 miles
Fuga to Manila         - 290 miles
Fuga to Cavite         - 300 miles
Fuga to Olongapo       - 285 miles
These distances are a maximum for present day service planes to go and return, therefore advance airdromes closer to the objectives will be necessary. These could be placed on the Islands of Lubang, seventy-five miles southwest of Manila, on Polillo Island, sixty-five miles east of Manila, and on Santiago Island in the Dingayen Gulf one hundred and forty-four miles northwest of Manila. The population of Lubang numbers sixteen thousand three hundred and eighty two. The population of Polillo numbers four thousand two hundred and forty-five. The population of Santiago Island numbers two thousand seven hundred and forty-six. These places could be surprised and seized by parties from seacraft, submarine or surface.
