      14. The Royal Aeronautical Service was created an independent arm in 1921. It serves the army, all governmental departments, is used for commercial purposes, and for air force work. There are about two hundred and fifty qualified pilots in Siam and about two-hundred and fifty others who have had aviation instruction. They are good pilots for I have observed them under all ordinary peace time conditions. They are organized into two observation squadrons, one bombardment squadron, and two pursuit squadrons.

      15. They have a pilot school, an observation school at Don Mueng, a bombardment school at Korat, and a pursuit school at Koh-Lak. The pilot school has on an average sixty students in the course which lasts four months. They are trying to turn out about one hundred pilots a year. The observation school course lasts six months. They have an average of fifteen students. The bombardment school lasts eight months and has an average of ten students. The pursuit school lasts eight months and, on an average, has twenty-five students.
