when commercial aviation becomes a reality, Siam will be able to handle it for that part of the world.
18. Siam started its air force by sending three officers to France in 1911. These all obtained their pilot's ratings at that time and are still active air officers. They returned to Siam in 1913 and brought flying equipment with them. These airplanes were in the Siamese army manoeuvres in 1913-14.
19. The Siamese have well organized airways all over their country and fly over them constantly.
20. The number of officers and men on permanent duty with the air force is forty-two officers and five hundred and one of the other ranks. All reserve officers are required to fly during the year although the amount of flying is indefinite. Mechanics are maintained as a special class and other classes of air men are used for the ordinary post duties. There are no foreigners employed, all of the work being done by the Siamese. A good many women are used in the aeronautical shops.
