of two squadrons, the 4th Observation Squadron and the 19th Pursuit Squadron, and Headquarters Detachment. No provision was made for a Service Squadron, shops, aero repair, etc. The Group has depended on Luke Field for a great deal of this kind of work. At present, however, we have scraped together a semblance of a machine shop, and an aero repair shop, and are doing a lot of our own work. It is always most unsatisfactory to depend on another field for repair work. It looks well enough on paper, but does not work in practice. The supply situation is clearing up to some extent. The trouble has been that there were not enough supplies in the Department for the maintenance of the Air Units. The supply depot is locally well organized, and as far as this field is concerned, they cooperate as far as it is possible to do so. In the event that it is contemplated further maintaining a Group at this Field, a service squadron should be authorized. At the present time all funds allotted to the department, and purchses made under such allotments are handled by the Hawaiian Air Depot.
