Liberty motor but also the simple construction characteristics of Fokker's designs. It is far superior to the DH, and its flying characteristics are so much better that it impressed me as the best two-seater I had seen in Europe. I recommend that this ship, above all others, be built this year for our aviation.
Another very interesting plane that he was making was a pursuit plane using Hispano-Suiza 300 h.p. motor -- or Wright engine as we call it. This is practically a larger edition of his 180 h.p. pursuit ship, with all the splendid characteristics of that plane. It is a biplane with wooden wings covered with cloth and a tubular steel fuselage. This also will make an excellent pursuit airplane, and should be finished before long.
There is one thing about Fokker and his equipment -- one can be sure of its flying characteristics on account of being such an excellent pilot and knowing what is required by the various classes of aviation.
At this place we also saw a German launching device for a torpedo, which give it a certain amount of forward speed so as to have it strike the water in such a way as to cut down the amount of splash. It looked quite complicated and offered few advantages over other means of dropping torpedoes.
