of coastal sea communications can be more efficiently performed by the Army air force. In an emergency such force would be concentrated on or near our coast, and due to its great mobility, if proper facilities are provided, even though it may be operating far inland, it may be assigned a mission 200 miles at sea which could be accomplished within a few hours. It not only has the power to attack and destroy the enemy aircraft with the fleet, but it also has the power to sink or put out of commission any type of naval vessel operating with the fleet. At the present time the Army air force whose normal duties should be as enumerated, as by General Orders No. 20 limited in its use to operations in the immediate vicinity of the coast.
