A second plane dispatched from this group, brought back information of importance concerning railroad movements and enemy artillery activity in the region of the Briey Basin.[# symbol besides period] The British night bombardment group carried out several important raids. One 550-lb., forty-eight 112-lb., and two 25-lb. bombs were dropped on the railroad at Meziers; one hundred thirteen 112-lb. and twenty-one 25-lb. bombs on the railroad triangle at Metz-Sablon' twelve 112-lb. bombs on the railroad junction at Ars; one 550-lb. and twenty-one 112-lb. bombs on Thionville; sixteen 112-lb. bombs on a flaming onion battery near Plapperville. Many direct hits were observed during the course of these expeditions. A total of 13 1/2 tons of bombs were dropped and all planes returned safely to their airdromes.
