In conjunction with the attack launched by the 2nd and the 4th French Armies and the First American Army, the British day bombing planes carried out several very important expeditions during the day of the 26th. Five 230-lb. and two 112-lb. bombs were dropped on the railroad at Audum-le-Ronan. Two bursts were observed on the edge of the sidings. Six 230-lbs, sixteen 112-lbs. and sixteen 25-lb. bombs were dropped on the railroad at Metz--Sablon. Seven direct hits were observed in the eastern side of the triangle and one in the center. Both of these expeditions were heavily attacked by enemy planes, as a result of which two enemy aircraft were destroyed and one shot down out of control. Six British planes failed to return.

Twenty planes of our day bombardment group left the airdrome at 5:10 P.M. for the purpose of bombing Monzay, but on account of adverse weather conditions this formation changed its objective to drop 2 1/2 tons of bombs on the towns and railroad station of Etain. In accordance with prearranged plan[[strikethrough]]e [[/strikethrough]]s,
