Leroy R. Taylor, affectionately known throughout the insurance industry as "L. R.," was elected first vice president of the National Insurance Association at the 1969 convention held in Miami Beach, Florida. For more years than memory can recall, Mr. Taylor has served the NIA with competence and fidelity. His numerous contributions to the growth and welfare of the association have won the admiration and respect of the total membership of NIA.

*He is  vice president-actuary of Mammoth Life and Accident Insurance Company of Louisville, a company he has served well for many years.

Mr. Taylor holds a B.S. degree from Alcorn A & M College; a M.S. degree from the University of Iowa in mathematics and acturial science; and he has pursued additional courses at Northwestern University, the University of Chicago, and the University of Louisville.

He is a member of the Actuaries Club of Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. He is a World War II veteran and prior to entering the insurance profession, was an educator.

Mr. Taylor is married to the former Lula Terrell and they are the parents of two children.

*As of October 1, 1970, Mr. Taylor joined the staff of North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company as associate actuary.
