An articulate and attractive young woman, Miss Joan Murray has an extensive background in all phases of communications media, including covering news stories that range from royalty to women's prisons, from documentaries on aircraft and private flying to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassination. It is generally known that Miss Murray is believed to have the unique distinction of being this country's first and major Black television news correspondent. 

Miss Murray has recently branched out into Black entrepreneurship to become co-owner and Executive Vice-President of ZEBRA Associates, Inc., a new advertising agency. ZEBRA is the nation's first full service, integrated ad agency with Black principals.

Joan Murray joined WCBS-TV in April of 1965. Since then, she has a television news correspondent appearing on the 6:00 PM and the 11:00 PM news broadcasts, as well as contributing to various other news and public affairs programing.
