MRS. GLADYS W. DIXON
FIRST MARYLANDER
TO HEAD DAUGHTERS OF ISIS

Mrs. Gladys W. Dixon of Baltimore, was elected imperial Commandress of the Daughters of Isis at the imperial Court Session held in Boston, August 15, 1970.

She is the first Marylander to head the 7000 member organization which has courts in 37 states and in Germany despite the fact that the first Court was organized in Baltimore 61 years ago.

A retired teacher in Baltimore, the new Commandress attended Douglass High School in Baltimore, did her undergraduate work at the Coppin State Teacher's College and Columbia University and won her Master's Degree from Columbia.

She has an impressive record. She is affiliated with the NAACP, YWCA, Citizens Planning and Housing Authority, Whitelock McCulloh Neighborhood Improvement Club and National Foundation.

Mrs. Dixon is a volunteer worker with the American Red Cross, the National Cancer Foundation, Baltimore City Health Department and the Community Chest. She is a member of Ames United Methodist Church, where she is a member of the Weslyan Service Guild on the Advisory Board, is chairman of Work Area in Mission and director of the Methodist Historical Society for the Northwest Section.

Mrs. Dixon has an equally impressive fraternal record. She is a Past Matron of Rebecca Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Past Most Ancient Matron of Rosa J. Richardson Court, Heroines of Jericho, Past Loyal Lady Ruler of Queen Esther Assembly, Order of Goldern Circle, Past Illustrious Commandress of Jerusalem Court, Daughters of Isis, Past Most Noble Governor of Frances E. Harper Household of Ruth.

She has also held the office of the Past Grand Most Ancient Matron, Rahab Grand Court, Heroines of Jericho of Maryland and its Jurisdiction and the Past Grand Worthy Matron of Myra Grand Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliation.
