M. A. Wright, chairman and chief executive of Exxon, USA, and J. E. Queen, national coordinator of community relations, presented the grant to Arthur A. Fletcher, executive director of UNCF. The ceremony was held in Mr. Wright's office in the Exxon Building in Houston, Texas. One half of the $50,000 grant will be used in support of the general fund. The remaining $25,000 will be applied to projects carried out by the Department of Institutional Services of UNCF. Queen indicated that "the longevity of Exxon's giving and the continuity of our past gifts demonstrate a recognition of the UNCF schools' great opportunities for service and their equally great need for additional financial support."
