JOHN E. WESTBERRY
Elevated To National President

Greek John Westberry was elected the National President of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity in December, 1973 after having served in such responsible offices as National First Vice President and Regional Director for Texas (Lone Star Region). In 1974 he was listed by Ebony Magazine as one of the top 100 Blacks in the nation.  This General Education Board Fellow and Faculty Science Fellow's education includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Livingston College of Sailsbury, North Carolina plus Master Degrees from Atlanta University and University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

For Several years Brother Westberry has been one of the chief fund raisers for the W. L. Davis Division - Boy Scouts of America.

This Professor of Mathematics has served at Texas College in Tyler, Texas and Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. He is now Registrar and Director of Admission at Texas Southern University. 

Brother Westberry is listed in "Who's Who in American College and University Administration". He is the son of the late Rev. John E. Westberry of A.M.E. Zion Church and Annie Richardson Westberry of Knoxville, Tennessee.

JUDGE MARION GARNETT

Grand Basileus, Marion Winston Garnett was born in Jeffersonville, Indiana.  He is married to Juanita O. Nogest, and they have two children, a son and a daughter.

Bro. Garnett was graduated with honors from Taylor High School, Jeffersonville, Indiana. Subsequently, he attained the Bachelor of Philosophy Degree (Ph.B.) University of Chicago, 1947; and the Doctor of Law Degree (J.D.) University of Chicago, 1950.

He was admitted to the Supreme Court of Illinois, June 9, 1950; the Federal District court (N.D., Ill. E.D.), August 13, 1954; the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, November 7, 1967; and the Supreme Court of the United States, November 8, 1965.  He is a member of the Cook County Bar Association and the National Bar Association.

During his years of practice, Bro. Garnett has handled more than 950 contested jury and non-jury cases.  He has appeared in numerous appeals before the Supreme Court of Illinois and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Congratulations Bro. Garnett on being re-elected Grand Basileus.  The NPHC Board looks forward to your continued support.
