Ms. Vera Gunn of Philadelphia, National President, will officiate at the four-day session, which will pursue the theme "Marketing In A Crisis," and assess current developments in the black consumer market, pointing the way toward more effective programming in that area. Welcoming the convention goers will be the Associations national office, headed by Paul E. X. Brown, Executive Director, and William Turner, Convention Chairman, in addition to an active Atlanta Chapter, which has contributed national officers and members to the Board of Directors. Founded in 1953, NAMD has moved to increase the involvement of blacks in marketing and related fields and has worked to raise the standards and ethics of its members. The Association has a membership of 400 and annually publishes "Emphasis," its convention journal which provides analysis and interpretations of the past year's activity in the black consumer market.
