Sloan, CLU [[/caption]] Memphis' Rivermont Holiday Inn will be the site for the 54th annual convention of the National Insurance Association, a trade organization of 39 black-owned insurance companies. North Carolina Mutual's Maceo A. Sloan, CLU, of Durham will preside and 'Six M's of Change" (Money Methods, Machines, Manpower, Marketing and Management), the convention theme, will be examined during the four-day conference. Insurance executives T. J. Willis and Gerald T. Howell of Memphis will co-chair the summer meeting. Founded in 1921, NIA seeks to promote the interest of the insurance industry through education and information, raising the standards and practices of its member companies. Individual companies support a broad variety of civic, social, educational, religious, health and civil rights projects. Collectively, NIA members are the largest black-controlled business in the country. The Association maintains a national office in Chicago, headed by Charles A. Davis, Executive Director.
