94th Annual Session 

The 94th Annual Session of the United Supreme Council, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Northern Jurisdiction met in the Statler Hilton Hotel, Boston, Mass., May 18th through 20th.

The Active Members Fellowship Breakfast was held in Stanboro Hall, Sunday Morning. Sovereign Grand Commander of the Southern Jurisdiction, Ill. John G. Lewis, Jr. 33(ds), and his official delegation, were guests and were warmly received by Sovereign Grand Commander, Ill. Frank M. Summers, 33(ds), for the Northern Jurisdiction. Ill. Charles H. Wesley, 33(ds), Illustrious Grand Prior, So. Jur., briefly addressed those at the breakfast regarding some research he was doing about Prince Hall, Our Patron. 

At the first Executive Session, following the breakfast, 96 candidates were approved for elevation to the 33(ds).

Annual Memorial Service for 24 deceased fraters was held in Ballroom East of the Statler Hilton Hotel at 7p.m. Sov. Grand Com. Lewis, 33(ds), and his delegation participated. Following the traditional processional the roll call of the deceased was read by Secretary General S.G.I.G William R. Venable, 33(ds). Music was given by The Masonic Choir of the Bahamas and the senior Choir of Peoples Baptist Church of Boston. Father Cyril C. Burke of St. Monicas Episcopal Church, Hartford, Conn., gave the Eulogy. Ill. Homer E. Gaines, 33(ds), was Grand Master of Ceremonies. Four Illustrious Deputies, viz, Braxton F. Cann, 33(ds); Patrick E. Cahvis, Jr., 33(ds); Robert Shannon Taylor, 33(ds); and Vincent C. Bevenue, 33(ds), were among those eulogized.

Deliberative and legislative sessions began when on Monday morning the United Supreme Council was opened in proper ritualistic fform. Sovereign Grand Commander, Ill. Frank M. Summers, 33(ds), was officially received and presided over all subsequent Sessions. Ill. john G.Lewis, 33(ds), Sovereign Grand Commander of the Southern Jurisdiction, brought official greetings and was given an appropriate seat of honor. Accompanying Ill. Lewis were elected officers of his cabinet, that included; Ill. i. H. Clayborne, Lieut. Grand Commander; Ill. Emmett Draper, Chancellor; Ill. George Farrar, Treasurer General; Ill. James Mingo, Secretary General; Ill. Charles H Wesley, Grand Prior; Ill. James Gibosn, Seneschal; Ill. G. Wesley Allen, Deputy for North Carolina;m Ill. John Delaney, Attorney General; and, Ill. Robert Campbell, Auditor General. 

SOVEREIGN GRAND COMMANDER

Masonically, Illustrious Summers is a Past Deputy Grand Master of Illinois Grand Lodge. He served as Deputy for the Orient of Illinois for twenty-six years. He is a Past Imperial Potentate of the A.E.A.O.N.M. Shrine and presently heads the Scottish Rite Masons of the Northern Jurisdiction as Sovereign Grand Commander. 

A graduate of Indiana University, Harvard Law School, and Chicago Kent Kaw School, has practiced law since 1924. 

Former Assistant District Attorney and former Commissioner of Illinois Court of Claims. 

For sixteen years has served as attorney for four townships and is presently also serving as attorney of East Side Levee and Sanitary District.

Illustrious Summers is a Past National President of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity and has served as Chairman of St. Clair Housing Authority, and secured the establishment of the East St. Louis Housing Authority. In addition, he made a survey of public housing and public health in Mexico City, Mexico. 

He is a former Board Member of the Supreme Life Insurance Co., member of the Lay Board of St. Mary's Hospital of East St. Louis, Illinois and a Sunday School Teacher at Shiloh A.M.E Church where he holds membership.
