The Metropolitan Chapters of AKA Hosts MESSAGE FROM THE SUPREME BASILEUS The crucial problems that plague our society in the mid-1970's demand that we become involved in all areas of local, state and national program planning that affect the well being of the nation. Inflation, recession, unemployment and high interest rates are but a few of the immediate problems that concern all Americans. Discrimination among women and minorities, the lack of equal educational opportunities still abounds on all levels. As America approaches the Bicentennial, our leaders must reconsider what our goals are and the best means of achieving them. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is committed to high scholastic and ethical standards; the development of unity and friendship among college women; the alleviation of problems affecting girls and women; the promotion of higher education and service to all mankind. We believe that people-oriented programs must be geared to meet the real needs of people if they are to be effective and meaningful. We further believe that Alpha Kappa Alpha has the trained resources, national and local stature to meet these challenges and make a positive impact in our constantly changing world. We earnestly request your support as we move forward with perseverance and dedication.
