LEADERSHIP TRAINING

For active members, leadership training seminars are held in the alternate years when the Boule or convention is not in session. Special emphasis is placed on the needs of undergraduate and graduate Advisors to develop skills and understanding for effective leadership in the Sorority and in community organizations.

READING WORKSHOP EXPERIENCE

Reading has been identified as a critical educational need in all parts of the nation. Thousands of young people each year are constantly meeting with failure because of the lack of this basic tool of communication. Alpha Kappa Alpha is committed by its purpose, "To study and help alleviate problems concerning women and girls in order to improve the social stature of the race."

UNITED NEGRO COLLEGE FUND DRIVE

Alpha Kappa Alpha, composed of college trained women, recognizes the bona fide necessity to support Black institutions of higher learning. The Sorority also recognizes that now is the time for Black people to begin to substantially support Black colleges and other educational institutions. Alpha Kappa Alpha's Special Projects Committee has developed techniques and procedures to reach a goal of a half million dollars by the 1976 Boule.

CONSUMER EDUCATION TRADE SHOWS

In its economic thrust, Alpha Kappa Alpha realizes that there is a need for an intense consumer education program for Black people as well as the need to help Black businesses showcase their wares and services to the general community.
