Urban League, The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, The Women's Advisory Council for the Office of Economic Opportunity and many others. The NACW also participates in the White House Conferences and in the United Nations Educational, Social and Cultural Organization. It has made fellowship grants to many outstanding women, who sought and completed doctoral studies. Among the many projects sponsored by our organization are: Remedial and Tutorial Services, Voter Education, Family Relations, Community Development and Planning and Consumer Education.

When the Jubilee Convention of the National Association of College Women was held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the Association accepted its updated charter on August 9, 1974, and became known as the National Association of University Women. Thirteen women have served as National Presidents: Dean Lucy D. Slowe 1924-29; Mrs. Juanita H. Thomas 1929-33; Mrs. Vivian J. Cook 1933-37; Mrs. Helen I. Grosley 1937-39; Dr. Hilda A. Davis 1939-43, 1957-61; Mrs. Alice Taylor Chandler 1943-45; Dr. Flemmie Kittrel 1945-49; Mrs. Inez B. Brewer 1949-53; Mrs. Thelma Taylor Williams 1953-57; Mrs. Lillian McDaniels 1961-65; Miss Portia C. Bullock 1965-69; Mrs. Odessa Farrell 1969-74; and Mrs. Margaret Una Poche, 1974, to the present. 

The 1976 Convention of the National Association of University Women will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the Stardust Hotel, August 10-13, 1976. The theme of the convention will be - "Women, Pilots of Change."
