doctorate in May of 1975 and (2) the article entitled "Jimmy Carter--First Morehouse Man in the White House?" which appeared in The Morehouse Bulletin for the spring of 1976.

As Governor of Georgia, Carter worked cooperatively with President Gloster in educational projects.  When Dr. Gloster was Vice President and later President of the Association of Private Colleges and Universities in Georgia, Governor Carter supported efforts to effect passage of a bill authorizing the granting of tuition scholarships to students attending private colleges in the state.  Later, at President Gloster's request, Governor Carter served with Mayor Jackson as one of the two main speakers at the Atlanta Commerce Club banquet launching Morehouse's successful Atlanta capital-funds campaign on February 17, 1972.
