Black women under the age of 20 account for over 7 percent of the babies born in New York, according to the 1975 Health Department Statistics. The infant and maternal mortality rates are high in the minority population of New York City.

Recent surveys show that their nutritional status and physical immaturity make it difficult to give birth.

Johnson and Johnson, the giant in Health and Baby Care, was concerned about the high infant mortality rates among Black Mothers. The result was the creation of the Award-Winning program "To Your Baby's Health," created by Central City Marketing Inc., out of Chicago, Illinois. The President of Central City Marketing, Don Jackson, has been pleased that this program is now being asked for by Health Officials in other major cities.
