The AVON LOOK...
and how to get it.

1. UNDER-MAKEUP MOISTURIZER
All skin needs moisturizing, even oily, because moisture helps keep skin soft, smooth and young-looking. Moisturizer also helps makeup go on easier, blend better. And blending is very important to achieve a soft, natural look.

2. FOUNDATION - Choosing a shade.
Foundation color should be as close as possible to your natural skin tone. To choose the right shade, try a little on your wrist in a good natural light and let it dry. That will give you an idea of the effect you will get.

Applying Foundation
Foundation should cover the entire face from the hairline to the tip of the chin. Do one section at a time, blending with quick up and outward strokes. Dragging down on facial muscles could help encourage wrinkles. And nobody wants to do that. Check front and side views of your face as you go to make sure foundation is blended evenly all over.

3. BLUSH

Avon has stick, powder and creamy blushers in lots of great colors. Blush is used, primarily, to accent the cheeks. But it can also be used on chin, temples or anywhere you want an extra glow of color. Dot blush along cheekbones, following the natural bone structure. Then blend out toward hairline.

4. EYE MAKEUP - Under-eye circles.
To hide under-eye circles, apply a little concealing cream under each eye and blend in carefully with foundation. Or achieve the same effect by applying foundation in a slightly lighter shade to the under-eye area and blending in.

Shadow
Avon has many types to choose from . . . creams, sticks, pressed powders. And we've got the latest fashion colors, too.

Eyeshadow colors should compliment the clothes you wear. In general, however:
• light shadow on the lids will bring out small or deep-set eyes.
• dark shadow in the crease of the lid will help to contour the eye.
• light colors should always be used to highlight the brow bone under the eyebrow area.
• if more than one shadow color is used, all colors should be softly blended so you never see where one color stops and the other starts.

Eyeliner.
A brown/black liner is best for a soft effect. To apply, draw a very thin line along the base of the lashes. Start at the inner corner of the eye and extend to the outer corner.

Mascara.
Some mascaras just add color. To apply, work from base to tips. Then let dry completely before applying each extra coat.

Brow Pencil.
To start, brush the brows upward to reveal the natural arch. Following the arch, make light feathery strokes, imitating the way the brow hairs naturally grow. Then blend color, for a soft, natural effect. Eyebrows should begin at the inner corner of the eye. And extend about 1/4" beyond the outer corner. You can measure this by holding your pencil on a slant from the outer edge of your nose to the outer corner of your eye.

5. LIPSTICK

Lipstick is one of the prettiest fashion accessories. And we've got lots of shades. Choose the one that best complements your outfit. For a more definite shape you may want to use a lip brush. Apply lipstick to brush, then with point outline lips. Start at center of upper lip, outlining each side, then lower lip. Fill in the mouth shape with lipstick. For a shinier effect, add a clear gloss.

REMEMBER THE BASICS

1. Start with a clean face, use clean tools and moisturizer first.
2. Blend every step of the way to create a soft, natural look.
3. Always blend up and out, so that you don't drag down on facial muscles and encourage wrinkles.
4. Always work in good light, so you can see exactly what you're doing.
5. Experiment and practice, because in makeup, like anything else, practice makes perfect.

All it takes is the right products and a little know-how and people will surely say, "You never looked so good!."
