VOL. 3, NO. 1
JANUARY-FEBRUARY, 1979

THE CHAIRMAN'S CORNER:
Vera Gunn-Harden,
NAMD Board Chairman

Greetings to our Past President, Board of Directors, Officers, members and friends. We are inviting you to the 1979 National Association of Market Developers Conference/ Workshop at the Sheraton Park Hotel, Washington, D.C., May 21 to May 25, 1979.

It has been said that this is a crucial period in the black marketplace, even though blacks have become a major force in the American consumer economy. Today, non-white consumers in all income categories on the average spend a greater percentage of their income for goods and services as compared to white consumers in the same income levels. Black marketeers are aware that they cannot attain an equitable share of the American system without first gaining a share of the decision making power in the industrial sector.

At our 26th Annual Conference, provocative discussions and panels will be presented in the areas of urban marketing strategies consumers' attitudes toward industry and its products; youth and marketing careers and other pertinent marketing trends.

We are inviting you to participate in the workshop discussions as a moderator, panelists or resource person to help strategize and plan implementation techniques that will diminish or eradicate deleterious effects of the black marketplace.

If you can provide any resource, please contact our National President. Thank you for your interest and consideration.
