Black Music Association Convention
Sheraton Hotel, Philadelphia, Pa.
June 8-12, 1979

Dedicated to the advancement, enrichment, encouragement, and recognition of Black Music.

The scope and the mission:

Since Black Music is by far the most popular form of contemporary music in existence, it is logical to assume than an organization composed of all its segments will be one of the most influential voices if the entertainment arts. And that's exactly what BMA will be! If you are among the thousands of musicians who play Black Music... if you are one of the countless voices who sing it or whose feet dance to it... if you are a composer who writers it, a broadcast personality who plays it... if you publish, record, market, manage or represent Black Music talent... if you have any professional connection whatever with Black Music, there is a place in BMA for you. In BMA, you will have an organization that protects your interests, one that serves as a forum for the expression and exchange of your goals and ideas, as well as an organization that enriches the growth of our entire industry. And, though international in scope, BMA will operate on a national, regional as well as on a local level to protect and perpetuate Black Music in all forms -- wherever it's played!
