Boxing greats gather for Tanqueray Awards presentation -- Former boxing champions Gene Tunney and Jack Dempsey give a friendly hand clasp to John E. Heilman, president of Somerset Importers, Ltd., as Jersey Joe Walcott and Willie Pep look on following presentation of the Tanqueray Achievement Awards at a recent luncheon held at Gallaher's Restaurant in Manhattan. Mr. Heilmann presented the 10th Annual Tanqueray Trophies to boxers Howard Davis and Sugar Ray Leonard for their outstanding accomplishments as Gold Medal winners in the Olympics, prior to their recent professional debuts.

Johnnie Walker Red Salutes The Cast of Timbuktu on the occasion of their final performance in New York after a successful run on Broadway at the Mark Hellinger Theatre. Shown above congratulating Eartha Kitt for her starring role and outstanding performance in Timbuktu is Alfred Schexnayder, regional field manager, Eastern Division of Somerset Importers, Ltd. Eartha Kitt is an international star whose electrifying career has spanned theatre, films, nightclubs, television and recordings, all with equal distinction. She has performed for royalty and heads of state throughout the world and entertained in 104 countries. Ms. Kitt and the original cast of Timbuktu will be leaving New York soon toe begin a national tour of major cities.

Champion High Jumper Franklin Jacobs Wins 1978 Tanqueray Award -- Shown at a recent gathering of sports buffs at Gallagher's Restaurant in Manhattan, Franklin Jacobs, right, accepts the Tanqueray Award for excellence in the field of amateur sports from John E. Heilmann, president of Somerset Importers, Ltd., a Norton Simon Inc. company. Franklin Jacobs was honored for his record 7-foot 7 1/4 inch high jump at the Millrose Games last January, that put him up higher than any American in history. His ultimate objective is to win a Gold Medal at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow. Somerset Importers, Ltd., has sponsored the Tanqueray Achievement Award for the past 11 years.

Olympic Champs Together Again As Co-Winners of Tanqueray Award -- Howard Davis and Sugar Ray Leonard, whose parallel brilliance as amateur boxers brought them identical Gold Medals in the Olympics, finished in a dead-heat again as co-winners of the Tanqueray Achievement Award for excellence in the field of amateur sports. Shown above at a recent gathering of the boxing clan at Gallagher's Restaurant in Manhattan are John Heilmann, president of Somerset Importers, Ltd. sponsor of the Tanqueray Achievement Award, center, flanked by Sugar Ray Leonard, left, and Howard Davis. The two young boxers, who already are maintaining unblemished records as professionals, conceivably could meet in the ring some day for a world championship.
