HOW LONG HAS THERE BEEN AN URBAN LEAGUE?

Since 1910 when the Committee on Urban Conditions Among Negroes was established to help black migrants from the rural south find jobs and housing, acquire more education and adjust to the rigors of an urban environment. A year later this committee was merged with-

* The Association for the Protection of Colored Women,
* The Committee for Improving the Industrial Conditions of Negroes, and
* The National League for the Protection of Colored Women-

to form the National League on Urban Conditions Among Negroes. The name was shortened several years later to the National Urban League.
