Carl T. Rowan is read, seen and heard by more Americans than almost any other journalist in the land.

His syndicated column for the Chicago Sun-Times is carried by newspapers that go into almost half the homes in the United States.

He is a permanent panelist on "Agronsky & Co.," the popular public affairs show which is viewed on television stations in 40 of the nation's largest cities. Mr. Rowan's political and social commentaries are aired regularly on the radio and television stations of Post-Newsweek Broadcasting Company. He is a frequent panelist on "Meet the Press."

Special Tributes. Recognizing Black men and women who have positively affected the corporate community is a part of CCBE's continuing effort to serve its members and the larger Black community.

Special awards are presented in recognition of outstanding achievement at an annual luncheon for members and corporate guests.

Serving the Community:

Fellowship Fund. CCBE is committed to motivating young Black men and women. In 1974 a Fellowship Fund was established with the help of many concerned individuals and corporations.

Since 1975, CCBE has supported graduate students attending the Graduate School of Business at Atlanta University, Atlanta, Georgia, and Columbia University, New York City.

One of the most successful fund-raising projects for the Fellowship Fund is "A Night in Monte Carlo". For Monte Carlo night, the Statler Hilton Hotel is transformed into an elegant casino. The Night is filled with dancing, dining, and gaming for charity. In addition to the pre-Monte Carlo promotional cocktail evening, corporations contribute not only to the prize table but to the Fund as well.

Business Development Program: CCBE has offered free managerial service to Blacks in business via accredited courses offered by Malcolm-King College in Harlem. The Course, designed and implemented by CCBE members included detailed coverage of the principles of management: planning, organizing, staffing, motivating and controlling; the need for creative management; management needs and opportunities pertinent to the inner city.

College Readiness Program: College Readiness, a program conducted by Union Settlement in cooperation with Benjamin Franklin High School, was set up to encourage highly-motivated students to stay in school and continue their education.

CCBE members served as sponsors to these students, the majority of whom are Black and Puerto Rican from Harlem and the South Bronx. Volunteering for a one-to-one assignment members assisted
