Reflections of the Grand Basileus

"The Challenge of Total Involvement" is the theme ever before Lambda Kappa Mu Sorority as we seek out issues and design programs to enable our membership to provide services related to those issues. Prudent interpretation of our goals have led us to expand our community projects to include service to the elderly, to battered women and to the youth of our various communities. At the same time, national and local affiliation with organizations of similar intent have enhanced our image and increased our strengths. Yes, we have grown in numbers and broadened our base of operations. Yet, the demands placed upon an organization such as ours constantly provide new opportunities and new challenges so that we can never become complacent in the belief that the challenges have been met. Each year opens new avenues for expression of our concerns and gives us a framework for program design. The year 1979 - "The International Year of the Child," challenges us to extend our efforts on behalf of children everywhere, not only through our own initiatives, but also, by continued support of the N.A.A.C.P., the National Council of Negro Women, the United Negro College Fund, and the National Urban League. Let us, then, come together again to deliberate in earnest the need to meet the "Challenge of Total Involvement."
