TANQUERY'S BLACK HISTORY CALENDAR INTRODUCED at N.Y.U.

Joining in the national celebration of Black History Month, the Eastern Division of Somerset Importers, Ltd., is providing free during the month of February colorful and informative 12" by 16" Tanqueray Black History Calendars in the Black Studies Departments of Colleges and universities in the area. Shown above discussing the Black Calendar program, left to right are: Alfred P. Schexnayder, regional field manager, and Elihu J. Davis, vice president, sales, both of Somerset's Eastern Division. Somerset is donating calendars to and is sponsoring receptions for the Departments of Afro American Studies at New York University and Nassau Community College during Black History Month to introduce the Tanqueray "Times to Remember" Black History Calendars. The Calendars are also being offered free, in limited quantities, to the public (at the offices of the Amsterdam News) through a series of advertisements placed by Tanqueray in the Amsterdam News. These advertisements show the famous blacks featured on the calendar and tell of their accomplishments. Among those featured are the Reverand Martin Luther King, Jr., Dr. Ralph Bunche, W. C. Handy, General Daniel (Chappie) James, Jr., Billie Holiday, Jack Johnson, and others. In addition to the featured photo and story for each month, the space for each day of the month lists an interesting event from Black History.
