Through the years of our organization it has grown. The ideas and objectives of the founders have been approved and cherished. We have turned our hands and our will to the task of giving purpose and meaning to our organization. We have reached out to perform various functions to forward the general welfare of the community. Dedication, effort and devotion have marked our sisterhood through the years. Though we have not always agreed on methods and procedure, or ways and means of achieving our goals, it is with pride that we can point to our unity in concentrating on the basic needs and objectives of a growing organizations, in the spirit of our motto, "NOT FOR OURSELVES BUT FOR OTHERS." The National Project for our sorority is the Mentally Retarded Citizens. National contributions are given to Ditt School for Retarded in New Orleans, Louisiana, Shelly Developmental Center in Raleigh, North Carolina and Dorothy Sylvers Brown School is Los Angeles, California. Other national contributions are made to United Negro College Fund, NAACP, Urban League, United Way, Y.W.C.A., March of Dimes, Sickle Cell Anemia, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America, National Council of Negro Women of which are an affiliate, and other worthwhile civic projects which will improve the quality of life for all mankind. Our annual local affairs are the Christmas Vespers, Founders' Day Observance, Cultural Affairs, Hobo Scholarship Dance, Queen Bee Contest, and Youth Career Seminars. Our record is one of which we can be exceptionally proud in the areas of community services as working with and helping mentally retarded citizens, and spearheading efforts in fostering the educational opportunities rendered to young people throughout the United States and Virgin Islands. A unique factor withing our sorority is the National Council of Shades (spouses of members of Eta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.) who assist us in following our goals.
