M.A., Teachers' College, Columbia University Further study: A & T State University, Bennett College, Central State University of North Carolina, Wake Forest University, and Howard University Teacher in the public schools of North Carolina for 39 years Retired 2 years Professional and Community Involvement Past President of the Association of Classroom Teachers of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System; Member of Superintendent's Public School Councils and Task Force Committees; Member of the North Carolina Association of Educators; NCAE; Member of the Council of Negro Women; NAACP; League of Women Voters; Life Member of NEA; National Women's Political Caucus; Listed in the Personalities of the South; Democratic Women of Forsyth County; Council on Status of Women; and other National Organizations. Has served as Chairman of the Public Affairs of NAUW; President of the Winston-Salem Branch of NAUW; Chairman of the National Nominating Committee; First Vice President of the National Association of University Women; Chairman of Commission on Instruction and Professional Development for North Carolina Association of Educators; Governor's Commission on Child Abuse; The Legislative Committee for the Association of Classroom Teachers of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Teachers; Delegate to NEA for 6 consecutive years; Principal of Vacation Bible School at First Baptist Church for 19 years; Served on Committee of Forty to plan for desegregating the Faculties and Students of Winston-Salem Public Schools; Attended every National Convention of NAUW except one since 1962. Served as President of NAUW since my election in Shreveport, La. in 1978. Currently, I am serving as president of Columbian Heights Unit of the Winston-Salem State University Alumni Association; Neighborhood Community Organization; Present Worker at the Poles.
