IMPERIAL POTENTATE - IMPERIAL COMMANDRESS TO PRESIDE AT SESSIONS IN CONVENTION CITY

The Honorable Eugene Dickerson, Jr., imperial potentate of the Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine of North and South America and its jurisdiction, incorporated, Prince Hall Shriners, will be the presiding officer when the annual session of the Imperial Council meets in this city August 17 through August 22, 1980.
He will be assisted in conducting meetings by Mrs. Anne M. Bolden, imperial commandress of the Imperial Court, Daughters of Isis, the women's auxiliary; by Harry E. Smith, deputy imperial potentate from Toledo, Ohio' Mrs. Dorothy M. Jenkins-Scott, deputy imperial commandress from Detroit, Mich., plus a host of other elected officers who are members of the imperial council and court divans.
As top leaders, Dickerson and Bolden will preside at all sessions attended by delegates, officers and guests. The delegates will be attending the meetings from some 38 states in the USA, and from several countries overseas to include the Bahama Grand Islands, Canada, England, Far East, France, Japan, Korea, Nassau British West Indies Islands, Okinawa, Panama Canal Zone, and Western Europe to include several cities and towns in Western Germany.
Past Grand Master Bossie Benjamin Simmons of Virginia, the imperial director of publicity for the PH shrine organization and the official spokesman for the group, said this week that pre-registration and hotels confirmation figures indicate that some 30,000 persons will attend the week-long meetings and they will spend more than $12,000,000 during their seven-day stay.
Official hosts and hostesses for the meeting in convention city will be the elected and appointed officers in El Hasa Temple 28, Prince Hall Shriners and El Hasa Court 47, Daughters of Isis members. They predict that this year's convention will be one of the largest and best attended meetings over held within recent years.
Reasons advanced for this optimistic outlook is that the convention site is traditionally a great city, it is filled with historical places and sights to be seen, and the city has the type of entertainment and offerings that is pleasing to delegates and their families.
An expensive and beautiful program of activities designed to keep everyone busy and happy, has been planned. Also worked out for the week-long meetings is a program of activities, designed especially for more than 5,000 youths of our nation expected to attend.
Dickerson and Bolden Said that they are strong on the fact that all members of our fraternal order should project a strong effort in the involvement of young people in all areas of community life. "We must project a strong program of social action for young people in order for us to be able to assist local, state, regional and national law enforcement agencies to eradicate crime, delinquency and poverty from the streets of our cities and towns all over America in these days and times," the two leaders said.
Prince Hall Shriners and Daughters of Isis members attending convention city this year will be unequaled by any other fraternal orders in the world in terms of giving financial aid, benevolent, charity and in donations to charitable and other worthwhile causes. To date, the shriners and daughters have made contributions on a national level in excess of more than $4 millions to national charities, to the PH Shrine Health and Medical Research Foundations, to hospitals all over the world, to medical schools for research programs, and to institutions of higher learning so that poor whites, blacks, and other minorities may receive an education in colleges, technicals schools and at universities all over the world.
In addition to the above, PH Shriners and Daughters of Isis members also award financial grants and scholarships
