Chairman

Philip Morris U.S.A. is delighted to participate in the Fifth Annual UNCF/Arthur Ashe Tennis Benefit.

The monies raised through this event will enable many young black students to continue their education. These bright, deserving young people would not have that opportunity without the funds provided by the UNCF.

The business community is acutely aware of the fact that more than half the nation's black executives and elected officials are graduates of predominately black colleges. For that reason, I am representing Philip Morris by serving as a Chairman of the Annual Campaign Fund.

Thank you for making this event possible. We hope you continue to support the United Negro College Fund, its success represents success for all of us.

Thomas B. Shropshire

On behalf of the Miller Brewing Company, I would like to add my welcome to this 5th annual UNCF/Arthur Ashe Celebrity Tennis Benefit.

Black colleges provide the trained minds that we must have if we are to continue progress toward equality. As a product of a black college, I am particularly aware of the importance of such institutions.

My company, which has contributed to the UNCF scholarship fund and supported fund-raising events for UNCF, backs the organization's goal of providing financial assistance to institutions that are producing tomorrow's leaders.

We wish all tournament participants the best of luck. We also wish the UNCF every success in its effort to reach its $80,000 goal so that its member schools can continue to insure that minds do not go to waste.
