Black Music Association

The sounds are unmistakable. Black Music is an electrifying, throbbing bear coaxed out of instruments and voices that never knew they had it in them. Black Music is horns reaching for uncharted notes...hymns clamoring for the gates of heaven to swing open...blues lamenting how lonely life can really be...or jazz improvisations punctuated by wild applause at every pause.

Because Black Music is artistry that knows no bounds, "Black" in this instance is the genealogy of a sound--not a color. Starting as a distinct drumbeat centuries ago in Africa, today's Black Music fills the world's airwaves, packs stadiums, theaters, saloons and sends recording industry sales to unprecedented heights. For Black Music is indeed everybody's music. Although a very important aspect of world culture, Black Music has had no singular voice of its own. The dreams, the hopes and the needs of Black Music performers and participants have been dispelled in an industry so vast that it has been all but impossible to unite its many segments. But now, there is the BLACK MUSIC ASSOCIATION!
