Some 850 guests joined LDF at its annual Civil Rights Institute in NYC in May 1980. Attendees listened to a keynote address by former U.N. Ambassador Andrew Young, and talks by pollster Louis Harris and Dr. Kenneth B. Clark, psychologist and founder of Data Black, Inc. on the subject of opinions and attitudes of blacks and whites in the 80's. The discussion was moderated by Donna Shalala, former Asst. Secretary of HUD and President, Hunter College, NYC. The Institute also sponsored a dinner in the fall addressed by U.S. Senator Bill Bradley of New Jersey.
