Carrie Terrell
Co-chairperson 1981

Carrie Terrell's many and varied activities at the Harlem Branch YMCA began many years ago with her work in the Thomas E. Taylor International Emblem Club chapter for Y membership recruitment. She was later to become the first woman president of the chapter. She served with distinction during membership campaigns, being cited with honorable mention for several years and then inducted into the Hall of Fame for eight consecutive years in recognition of the fact that she was responsible for at least twenty-five new members each year. She has also served on the branch's membership program, world service and branch council committees.

Mrs. Terrell is currently vice chairwoman of the National Council of YMCA's and serves on the planning committee for the National Council's 1981 meeting, a director of the Northeast Region of YMCAs and a member of its executive and youth committees. She serves on the budget and finance committee and the committee on member associations of the National Board of YMCAs and is a member of the YMCA of Greater New York's communication committee. Mrs. Terrell is also a director of the Youth Counseling League, a voluntary agency providing mental health services to adolescents and young adults in the New York City and Westchester areas and a director of Area 145, a neighborhood-improvement organization.
