CIBA-GEIGY Corporation is proud to honor three outstanding individuals in its 1982 Exceptional Black Scientists Poster Series – Dr. Jewel Plummer Cobb, Dr. Lloyd N. Ferguson and Dr., Augustus A. White III.

All three have made important contributions to research and science education in positions with some of America's leading institutions of higher learning.

The 1982 Exceptional Black Scientists, Dr. Cobb, Dr. Ferguson and Dr. White, join six other outstanding individuals who have been previously honored in the poster series.

The initial series in 1980 honored chemist Dr. Percy Julian and physicians Dr. Charles Drew and Dr. Jane Wright. Selected for the 1981 series were anatomist and medical educator Dr. W. Montague Cobb, theoretical physicist Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson and biological researcher Dr. Ernest Everett Just.

The Exceptional Black Scientists Poster Series was introduced by CIBA-GEIGY in 1980 to help acquaint the general public with the achievements of outstanding scientists.

The posters are painted by noted artist and illustrator Ernest Crichlow and contain brief biographical sketches outlining the achievements and contributions of these exceptional individuals.

By portraying their achievements on posters, CIBA-GEIGY hopes to encourage more black men and women to enter science and medicine.

The large four-color posters are available, free of charge, to high schools, colleges, civic organizations and other interested individuals and groups throughout the country. More than 300,000 posters were distributed during 1980 and 1981.

If you would like a set of the 1982 posters, write to the Corporate Relations Department of CIBA-GEIGY-and have your own record of these Exceptional Black Scientists.
