Lorraine Hansberry American College Theatre Festival Lorraine Hansberry Playwriting Award Sponsored by McDonald's Corporation For the seventh season, a playwriting award presented in memory of the distinguished dramatist, Lorraine Hansberry, is offered by McDonald's Corporation. A first place award of $2,500 and a second place award of $1,000 will be presented to the student authors of winning plays on the Black experience in America. Grants of $750 and $500 will be made to the drama departments of the college or university producing the first and second place plays. To be eligible for the Lorraine Hansberry Award: 1. The play must be a regular entry in the Playwriting Award Program of the American College Theatre Festival. 2. All entrants must be full- or part-time students enrolled in accredited undergraduate or graduate schools. 3. The play must be produced for the festival by a college or university.
