But the Reagan new federalization swap program does not provide for a WPA or any help from Washington for the unemployed that I can speak of. Oh yeah, the president said that in reading his newspaper in Washington, he pointed to pages of help wanted ads in the Washington area. They print newspapers in Detroit also, I wonder how those ads read?

The President tax cut program and the execution of his administration to do away with all regulation on business which acted up until now as a buffer between the large and the small is now forcing all the small people out of competitive business and only the top dogs and the big, his friends are making out.

Then too, the President says he must beef up the military because we face extincting from a Bear—I can't recall the last time I saw a bear but I am intrigued with all the things I must do without so that our military will be in position to fight a Bear. Then why so much interest in San Salvador—I believe we have poverty, hunger and deprivation more at home that should be taken care of first—The administration sent aid to Poland and Italy but forgot to send aid to Africa where drought and starvation have been going on for years.

The administration sent aid to Italy after that earthquake—folks in the State of Washington, after that mountain erupted, are still waiting for the government to help them. We sent aid to Poland because we wanted to help them get rid of that Bear—Yet to my knowledge, I have not heard of any help of that magnitude going from U.S. to aid starving Africans who have been trying to sustain life through years of national drought. Then I can't understand our relationship with the boat people. Boat people coming from Cuba or Korea are welcomed but Boat people coming from Haiti are not welcomed. Then how well can really know if our new technology will work in defense if we do not get a chance to try the new technology out.

And again as a young man coming up when election time came around the politicians seeking election or re-election in my area never told me that they were going to balance a budget on my back. They never told me about any foreign program. All they said to me was "Are you in need we can help". Do you need—what do you need?—this need was individual and personal and something was done.

The president has sort of disregarded needs of all kind.

Americans living in Urban centers commonly called ghettos need housing. Housing up until this president was supplied by government programs. I believe some of the numbers were 28-1 or something but it meant that the poor could be housed because a government program paid part of the rent; that the middle class wanting to buy a house could be helped because they were Loan guaranteed programs from Washington which made it possible for the home owner to at least start.

This president's man Sam Pierce who is supposed to take care of this segment of the government just said that all those programs which aided us with housing are scrapped and that he is trying to come up with some sort of location grants. And again I am lost because if I had not been fortunate enough to work under another administration and able to accumulate enough to pay for my private housing I would be up sh t's creek—Maybe Secretary Pierce will be able to tell me what will happen to me. God forbid if my apartment building, built under a Federal and City Subsidy burnt down.

Then this president says that under his new system if I should get sick and was unable to pay for a doctor, I will just have to die because I may not expect any medical aid from the government—But why go on—Are you better off this year than you were last year? I AM NOT.

And as this business of foreign affairs all I know about foreign affairs is that I was drafted in the Army and sent overseas to fight in a was for democracy. While overseas I got a chance to duck bullets in France and Germany and to duck out from bombing in England & Germany.

After the War they started something called the U.N. which I am told we pay for and at the U.N., all the nations in the world are supposed to iron out all differences among the members. But all I know is that this time around the U.S. and other governments balked when a Black man was supposed to be made the head of this body. I also know that the Black U.N. Ambassador was fired by our government because he was charged with talking to some black representative against a white member. I also know that the present U.S. Ambassador at U.N. does not care for involvement of U.N. with those of us from the Third World. I also know that this country which sent me to war to fight for democracy is playing tootsie with the South Africans who are hellbent on keeping the Blacks in their area in their place—Oh I was not suppose to say this.
