Twenty-nine chapters constitute Continental Societies' membership. These Chapters represent one thousand members located in 28 states, the District of Columbia and Bermuda.

It is well known that the members of the New York Chapter, Continental Societies, Inc. are active in business, educational, political and social pursuits.

It is also conceeded that they have a flair for fun. But most importantly, they are a hard-working, dedicated service group that is unerringly relevant to the needs of less advantaged children within the immediate community it SERVES who in twenty-one years have contributed more than $700,000.00 toward enhancing the quality of life of our youth.

They have been doing their civic duties for decades...in spite of the myth that middle and upper class Blacks tend to ignore their own people who need assistance.

The Annual Conclave has always signaled the Gratification of completing our fiscal year, underscoring the true purpose of the Conclave...to present accountings from the Chapters in terms of activities, commitments and contributions to persons and/or agencies.

In 1972, Continental Societies was incorporated Nationally in the state of Minnesota, under the leadership of our first National President, the late Lillian Parks Thomas and its National programmatic thrust, Operation Awareness—HEER (Health, Education, Employment, Recreation) was initiated.

The New York Chapter was chartered in 1961. It has received wide national acclaim from leaders of the community for their endeavors to foster and promote the welfare of our youth.

At present, Sadye White is president, Viola Carter Montgomery, Vice President of the New York Chapter.

Edna Calhoun is President of the National Organization, and Terri Bush is National Vice-President.
