Meadowland Hilton-June 25-29

As over four hundred anticipated guests arrive at the Meadowlands Hilton in Seacaucus, New Jersey on Friday, June 25, 1982, the members of the North Jersey Shore Chapter of the Continental Societies, Incorporated will be welcoming them for a weekend filled with concerns for children, as well as fun and entertainment. This gathering will represent the Twenty-Seventh Annual Conclave of the national organization, which is dedicated to foster, promote, and develop the welfare of disadvantaged and underprivileged children and youth.

Twenty-nine chapters constitute the Continental Societies membership, which extends throughout the United States and Bermuda. Edna Calhoun, Washington, D.C., is the National President.

"Future Horizons for Children" is the welcoming theme of the twenty-seventh conclave. Program highlights include the appearance of Dr. Deborah P. Wolfe, Professor of Education at Queens College, a Children's Choir, and National Presentations to the N.A.A.C.P., and the United Negro College Fund. Additionally, a Trip to Atlantic City is being planned, as well as, exciting activities for the male guests by the Continental Guys. The theme, "Future Horizons for Children", will be projected daily in all of the projects, for service to children is the paramount concern of the Continentals.

Shirley S. Williams, Ocean, New Jersey, is President of the Host Chapter, North Jersey Shore. Corleza Holimon, Middletown, New Jersey, is the Conclave Chairperson. Janice Sweeney, Program; Blanche Jones, Publicity; Elizabeth Williams, Accommodations; Janice Moon, Hospitality; and Cody Brooks, Finance; represent the planning structure. Elbert Wisner is Chairperson of the Continental Guys.

The Formal Banquet is scheduled for Saturday, June 26, 1982. The members of the North Jersey Shore Chapter look forward to an exciting, meaningful weekend, while continuing to render service to children. The chapter reports that over forty thousand dollars has been donated to this cause since the North Jersey Shore's chartering in May of 1971.
