ATTITUDE AND UNITY
President-Elect Message

Vera Ricketts

This year we have chosen to focus on cancer, and on health problems of youth. Each affiliate has been charged with the responsibility of working with the American Cancer Society and the National March of Dimes, to devise and implement programs in our respective communities dealing with these two vital issues. Should we carry out this responsibility effectively and with unity of purpose, we can conceivably reach a broad cross section of people in our communities. We can help save lives by teaching women to examine their breasts and by teaching everyone what the warning signs of cancer are. We can help young girls prevent unwanted and unwise pregnancies; we can help young people decide to enter the health professions as life careers.

By accepting and meeting this challenge we are saying to our communities that we deserve their love and trust because we are united, ready, and willing to help in this time of need. If not us, then who? If not now, then when?
