"Getting oil out of the ground is one thing. Getting it to the people who need it is another."

"A lot of our oil comes from foreign sources and at Gulf Trading and Transportation Company, where I work, our job is to get that oil to our refineries to make sure that oil, say from Nigeria, turns into gasoline for Philadelphia.

"I'm in the Petroleum Planning section, and we have to study and forecast a great many economic and political factors which control the price and production of oil overseas. The supply and price of oil affects the economy, inflation, the financial system, and the balance of payments; so our work is important. Another important factor is the direction of government policy when the effect ultimately shows up at the gasoline pump, in home heating costs, or in the hundreds of other oil products which we regularly use.

"It's a demanding, challenging and exciting job. I've been here for almost six years, and the oil industry has changed dramatically in that time, and it continues to change. Analyzing and reacting responsively to this change is our function.

"I'm glad I work for Gulf. America runs on oil, and I'm proud to work for a company that does its part to help keep America going."
