Harlem Economy and 125th Street

[[dotted]] 136th Street, 132nd Street. The economy was further enhanced by the numerous candy stores, at least, one every corner on all the blocks. These stores sold candy, newspapers, some magazines and numbers (which by the way was a way of life). Then there were the numerous one and two chair baber shops and numerous ladies beauty parlours.

Speaking of beauty parlours, Maude Gaskins had a whole of a business at 136th near Seventh Avenue. Frankie's was located at 138th on Seventh Avenue and Rose Morgan place, where she got started was on 145th near Amsterdam Avenue. The three was the legendar beautician Madame Walker, in whoe house on 130th Street the Patricks lived.
